Why Madhu Agro Estate?

Madhu Agro plantation is labour of love of Mrs.T.Nirmala Reddy , a now septuagenarian, who has tenaciously nurtured the plantation since establishing it with her husband T.Govinda Reddy in mid 1990s. The plantation was severely crippled in 2014 by the untimely demise of her husband followed by the devastating effect of cyclone Hudhud. Located at Kellar village in Koraput district of Odisha, the heartland of the tribal community in Odisha, which lies along the Eastern Ghats in India. Coffee growers, T. Nirmala reddy & Raji Reddy are the only women coffee growers from the region & employing tribal women. A relatively small team , but deeply involved in the entire process of the coffee, right from the farm management, to harvesting, to processing, to drying. Hulling , grading, manual garbling & packaging is done according to SCA standards at KDF curing works , Koraput, hence ensuring a very quality conscious approach from the plant to the dried seed. Sustainability is at the core of Madhu Agro farms, whether it is in respect to the power of the women workforce or with respect to coffee plants and it’s health or the biodiversity itself. They produce some of the finest coffees in India while keeping their focus on those coffees that are scalable to make economical and sustainable sense both.
